On 11th January, 1960, Rt. Rev. Dr. F. B. Cialeo OP (Bishop of Multan) handed over the management of this new, purpose-built English Medium School to the De La Salle Brothers; it was namedLa Salle High School, after the name of the founder of the Congregation, Saint John Baptist De La Salle.
The grandeur of the building was unmatchable as no private or government institution of the time had such a marvellous infrastructure – airy and spacious classrooms, a well-equipped science laboratory, a sports ground for cricket and football,and courts for basketball and lawn tennis.
St. John Baptist De La Salle who was the founder of the De La Salle Brotherslived in France, in the seventeenth century. He was a pioneer in the field of modern education and many of his pedagogical insights have gradually been adopted in classrooms throughout the world.
Backed by three centuries of practical experience, the De La Salle Brothers serve in over 80 countries around the world. At present, they administer about seventeen educational centres in different areas in Pakistan.
Brother Harding (British), Brother Ceasar (French) and Brother Oliver (Sri Lankan) were the pioneering Brothers of this esteemed institution. La Salle, Multan, has been providingeducational services to the youth of Multan and its outskirts since 1960.
Our tradition is to provide our students with a well-rounded education. Therefore, we offer a variety of subjects and give due importance to sports and literary activities. Value education is an indispensable part of our schooling and we place great emphasis on moral and human values.
In September 1993, La Salle, Multan, was upgraded to a Higher Secondary School including O & A Level classes.A good percentage of our students successfully qualify for admissions in renowned professional institutions for higher education both in Pakistan and abroad.
With the passage of time, the educational infrastructure of the school has been upgraded. At present, the school is well equipped with three Science and two Computer laboratories. The school’s air-conditioned auditorium is one of the best in the city.
La Salle, Multan, completed its fifty years of educational excellence in 2010. The occasion was marked by the presence of Brother Alvaro Rodriguez, Superior General of the De La Salle Brothers, Rome.
Founder’s Day, in honour of St. John Baptist De La Salle, is commemorated on 15thMay every year, and our annual Athletics Meet usually coincides with this day.
